Pockets, pockets, pockets.

This month for me it’s all about the pockets; pocket scrapbooking and a couple of layouts featuring embellished pockets from the Maggie Holmes ‘Confetti’ collection by Crate Paper.
First up is a Project Life spread featuring a trip to Rome in the Easter holidays paired with the ‘Journey’ collection by Crate Paper.

I fell in love with the travel tag paper ‘Voyage’ and used this along with other papers from the collection (full details at the end). I layered several papers for the weekly header page and added stickers and die-cuts on top for a travel themed insert.

I used the same lovely tag paper ‘Voyage’ and a photo of my boys on a flight simulator from that week on a scrapbook layout, adding an embellished pocket from the Maggie Holmes collection ‘Confetti’.

I embellished the pocket further with a tag and feather from the ‘Journey’ ephemera die-cut pack and added my title on top (these chipboard letter tiles are by Pebbles). Into the pocket I tucked a luggage tag (from my stash) and wrote my journaling on it.

Finally I added some more die-cuts from the Crate Paper ‘Journey’ collection and a couple of stickers from the ‘Confetti’ collection. The new Crate Paper collections have a similar colour range running through them so it’s pretty easy to mix and match them together, yay.

I’d made the most of a recent sale in the shop on the Project Life value kits and had ordered the Embossed Value Kit. I’d not planned on using it in my blog post, but I loved it so much that I thought I’d share a Project Life spread I’d made with it.

Each card is printed in lovely colours on thick textured cardstock and embossed in a ‘letterpress’ style. There are two of each card and embellishment in the kit, including the numbers 0 to 9.

To continue the embossed look of my spread I used American Crafts woodgrain textured cardstock cut into 4×6″ pieces. Whilst stocks last you can get an amazing 25 sheets of this chestnut colour for just £4.95!

I am very impressed with this kit and can see that I’ll be using bits from it on scrapbook layouts as well as for it’s intended purpose for Project Life. I especially love this ‘one day’ card below, it’s residing on a shelf above my desk at the moment, but it’s duplicate is destined for a special layout!

I’ve one last layout to share this month and it features another of the embellished pockets from the Maggie Holmes ‘Confetti’ collection. This time I teamed it with other products from the same collection for a layout about me, my social media me.
IMG_0230
I used the pocket to hold screenshots from my social media apps; Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, my blog and the Hey Little Magpie blog. It’s a fun idea to capture the social media side of me ‘right now’, who knows what social media apps / sites I’ll be using in a few years time. I included a 4×4″ photo of myself which is my avatar on my most frequently used apps; Pinterest and Instagram. It gives the page a good focal point as well as having a connection to the screenshot photos inside the pocket.
IMG_0232
I used ‘pins’ from the ‘standout layered embellishments’ pack which go well with the Pinterest connection and die-cut flowers to pick out those on my apron. I also chose the ‘good things’ chipboard element because the deep blue colour matched a couple of the colours in the screenshot photos and my jeans.
IMG_0231
I used white American Crafts cardstock and just one piece of patterned paper from the 6×6 paper pad, everything else came from the ‘ephemera with gold glitter’ pack, the ‘foil accent chipboard shapes’ pack and ‘journaling & title stickers’.

And just because I felt like it, I got my sewing machine out and sewed a die-cut strip and ticket on to the bottom of my page, sticking a camera and butterfly on top with glue dots. It adds a nice detail to the layout, pulling in the colours and grounding the page.
Finally I’ve got one more Project Life spread to show you. I mixed the current Maggie Holmes ‘Confetti’ collection with an old Maggie Holmes Project Life Mini Kit. The mini kit I used isn’t available anymore, however there is the Maggie Holmes Styleboard Core Kit still in stock in the shop.

I cut two sheets of patterned paper from the ‘confetti’ collection for the 4×6″ inserts; ‘Fete’ and ‘Surprise’ papers and used cards from the Maggie Holmes mini kit in the small pockets and the weekly header insert. (I’ve placed a tag over some journaling which I’ve not able to share).

I used the Becky Higgins cream lined journaling cards cut down to write on and added a few stickers and chipboard elements from the ‘Confetti’ collection. The little letter stickers are from the ‘Confetti 6×12 Sticker sheet’ and are the perfect size for mini titles.
